We are looking forward to the 2017 Race season and have alot of action packed racing on the schedule.
TEST & TUNES & SWAP MEET
January 28th we will begin with our Test & Tunes to allow drivers to get the feel of the new & improved track surface at Gator Motorplex. The off season has been a busy one and we have some exhilarating surprises for everyone!
Join us for the 2nd Annual Swap Meet on January 28-29th. They say one man's junk is another man's treasures, and that holds very true for racers. You can reserve your spot early beginning January 1st.
Feburary 2017 will be full of Test and Tunes to allow everyone time to dial in their setups and get seat time behind the wheel.
March 4, 2017...This year we will kick of the 2017 race season with The Fastest Show on Dirt with The World of Outlaw Sprints. These guys contacted us during the off season wanting to bring their show to us, so we are excited to give it to our race fans and city of Willis. Along with the World of Outlaw Sprints, they will be accompanied by The Southern United Sprints a division of IMCA Racesaver Sprints. Tickets will be on sale for this event after the holidays online at http://www.woosprint.com Mr. Boyd will be in town over the holidays creating the seating chart for this events online ticket sales.
April 2017 ...We are going to impress the fans as we bring in the wide bodied Texas Southern Late Models to our 1/4 mile venue. This will be some exciting side by side, nose rubbing, red dirt slinging action you definitely want to witness. The Late Models will only be with us twice in 2017. April & August
May 2017...It's hard to believe how time passes, this year is the 6th Annual Nolan Wren Memorial Race and the Largest Sprint Car Show of the regular race season aside from the World of Outlaws. However, this event will have More Sprints than you can imagine as we are ANNOUNCING THE LINE-UP for the 2017 Nolan Wren Memorial Race on May 6th... Welcome back the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Gulf South Region; the Southern United Sprints (SUS); the Lonestar 600 Wing Mini Sprints, the Restrictors; the Junior Sprints, and we have included the Factory Stocks as a supporting full body class.This event has grown to be one of the largest sprint race in southeast Texas to celebrate the legacy of Ralph Nolan Wren, 65 of Iola, passed away on Monday September 26th, 2011, in Houston. Mr. Wren was born in Navasota on March 19, 1946 to Wiley & Estelle (Adams) Wren. He lived all of his life in Iola and had been a member of the Iola Missionary Baptist Church since March 22, 1964. Mr. Wren was the previous owner of Wren’s Wheel Alignment in Bryan. He was a Mason and a member of the Bedias Masonic Lodge #651 AM & FM and the Iola Lodge where he was past Master. He enjoyed restoring old cars, but his passion was racing sprint cars and watching his sons race.Nolan raced with many of the legends that are still racing today and this event features his son's Ralph and Troy Wren in the winged 600 micro sprints with the Lonestar 600's series. We have reduced the number of classes and we will be starting the races earlier to ensure all of the fans can get an actioned packed night of racing from start to finish. We will announce all the details via our website; facebook; through the Nolan Wren Memorial page, and Race On Texas and In Wheel Time Radio. June 2017 ... We will celebrate Mr. Kent Lewis Sr. "The Classic" sprint car driver that has raced every thing you can imagine for the past 5 decades. He has raced with NASCAR legend Terry Labonte in the 70's and even has his own NASCAR experience on dirt in the 60's & 70's winning Championships in every decade. Mr. Kent Lewis Sr. is a "Class Act"; therefore we will host the 4th Annual Kent Lewis Sr. Classic which will be the only non-winged 305 sprint car event of the season. The ELITE Non-Winged Series will team up with the Southern United Sprints taking the wings off to celebrate our hometown legend Mr. Kent Lewis Sr. on June 17, 2017.
June also brings us a Trailer Race for excitement and skillful driving.
July 2017 .... Randy Waller will light up the sky on July 8th as we celebate Independence Day at the 6th Annual Lawanda Coburn Scorekeeper Memorial. This is always one of the most exciting and beautiful events of the year with a 25-30 minute constant flow of fireworks in the infield of Gator Motorplex. This show is one of the biggest fireworks displays in Mongomery County.
August 2017... We bring back the Texas Southern Late Model Series, along with our weekly racing program.
September 2017...The Labor Day Triple Crown Event comes to Gator Motorplex with the Southern United Sprints and the Lonestar 600's. The points season is winding up tight and racers will be deep in the points to make every race count.
October 2017 ... This is the last month to finalize points to determine track champions and to gain bragging rights. Oct. 14th is the last points race, then the Awards Presentation will be held on Oct. 21st prior to the night of racing to allow for pictures to take place while the cars are still clean and straight. The last weekend of October will be the 14th Annual Halloween Havoc.
